The project related is an apartment house for low-\/no-income homeless people in downtown.<br \/>First: People are expecting a particular design representing &#8218;affordable&#8216;, which means &#8217;no design&#8216;, because &#8218;design&#8216; means money, houses of the wealthy published in fancy magazines. There will be a public hearing soon (adjacent neighbors considering to object), and one of the potential questions by them the owner mentioned was if the design is not over the top. So, if these neighbors see this project they think of condos for new millionaires rather than homeless people?<br \/>Somebody has to explain. Very fundamentally. Design has nothing to do with money.<br \/>Second: The building department officials don&#8217;t know how to handle certain aspects. Specific questions asked and the answer is: we don&#8217;t know, it&#8217;s not in the code. We go strictly by code, follow the requirements and it looks like everything else around here. Should you leave the path and try something else (always within you interpretation of the code), chances are people loose solid ground, they can&#8217;t relate anymore the way they are used to. In which case they are unprepared and don&#8217;t know how to react. The project is shaking their balance.
