I saw an apartment, Studio, $825, Gramercy Pl, two blocks from Western between Beverly and 3rd. Decent Area at the edge of Koreatown to Hollywood. On the applications there are criteria. One of them: your gross income must be at least 2.5 times the monthly rent, which is little more than $2000. Another one: Occupancy guidelines – 3 persons per bedroom. So here we go: with $2000/month you can hardly afford this apartment, so take it with two others and you pay only $270…?
On the way home in the bus (bicycle with flat tire…again…): a passenger, an elderly person, Asian woman, lost a bag in a bus. She addressed her problem to the bus driver. The bus driver, a friendly and patient woman, tried to find out if someone found a lost case in a bus this passenger used before. The problem: the woman didn’t understand any English. The bus driver was informed about a found bag but she couldn’t get an answer from the lady wether she used this bus before or not…The only option she figured out: keep the lady in the bus on the way back to downtown, drop her of at the lost and found center and let her identify the bag.
